How We Use Cookies
Glancito uses cookies and similar technologies in two distinct contexts:
- glancito.com (this website): Cookies that operate on the Glancito marketing and dashboard site to remember your session, provide analytics, and (where you consent) support retargeting.
- Merchant storefronts (Glancito widget): Cookies that operate on your Shopify store when the Glancito loyalty widget is installed. These are strictly functional — they power the widget experience for your shoppers.
We obtain consent for non-essential cookies on glancito.com before setting them. On merchant storefronts, the merchant is responsible for their own cookie consent mechanism (e.g. a cookie banner). Glancito's storefront cookies are functional and cannot be disabled without breaking the widget.
Types of Cookies We Use
— Always active
These cookies are necessary for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take — logging in, setting preferences, or using the storefront widget. They do not identify you personally beyond what is needed for the session.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
glancito_session | Authenticates your merchant dashboard session | Session |
glancito_csrf | CSRF protection for dashboard API requests | Session |
glancito_widget_member | Identifies the loyalty member in the storefront widget (encrypted token) | 30 days |
glancito_widget_tab | Remembers the last active tab in the loyalty widget | Session |
— Enhance experience
Functional cookies remember choices you make (such as language, widget position, or notification preferences) and provide enhanced, more personal features. These do not track browsing across other sites.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
glancito_widget_open | Remembers whether the loyalty widget is open or minimised | 7 days |
glancito_dismissed_banner | Records that the merchant has dismissed an in-dashboard notification | 90 days |
— Require consent
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use glancito.com — which pages are popular, how people navigate, and where they come from. This helps us improve the site and product. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for this purpose. GA4 data is anonymised (IP anonymisation is enabled) and we have configured GA4 to not use data for Google's own advertising products.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes unique site visitors | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Maintains session state for GA4 | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes users (short-lived) | 24 hours |
— Require consent
Marketing cookies may be set on glancito.com to track the effectiveness of our own advertising campaigns and to show relevant Glancito ads to people who have visited our site. These are set only if you opt in via our cookie banner.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_fbp | Meta (Facebook) Pixel | Tracks conversions and enables retargeting on Meta platforms | 90 days |
_fbc | Meta (Facebook) Pixel | Stores click attribution for Meta Ads | 90 days |
We do not use marketing cookies to build profiles for third-party advertising networks or to target your customers on behalf of merchants.
Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on glancito.com are set by third-party services we use. These parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review:
| Provider | Service | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Analytics (GA4) | policies.google.com/privacy | |
| Meta | Meta Pixel (marketing) | facebook.com/policy/cookies |
| Shopify | App platform (merchant dashboard) | shopify.com/legal/privacy |
Glancito does not control third-party cookies and is not responsible for third-party cookie practices. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Storefront Widget Cookies
When a Shopify merchant installs Glancito, our loyalty widget runs on the merchant's storefront. The widget sets the essential cookies listed in the Essential section above — specifically glancito_widget_member and glancito_widget_tab.
What these do: The member token cookie identifies a logged-in loyalty member so the widget can display their points balance and tier without requiring them to re-authenticate on every page load. It is encrypted and scoped to the specific Shopify store domain — it does not track the member across other websites.
Merchant obligations: Merchants are responsible for disclosing the use of these cookies in their own cookie policy and obtaining any consents required under applicable law (e.g. ePrivacy Directive in the EU). Glancito provides template cookie policy language upon request.
No cross-site tracking: Glancito's widget cookies are set with SameSite=Lax and scoped to the merchant's domain. We do not track loyalty members across different merchants' stores or build cross-site advertising profiles.
Managing Cookies
Cookie banner (glancito.com)
When you visit glancito.com, a cookie consent banner will appear. You can accept all cookies, customise your preferences, or reject non-essential cookies. You can revisit your preferences at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
Browser settings
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View and delete existing cookies.
- Block all cookies or only third-party cookies.
- Set exceptions for specific sites.
Blocking essential cookies will prevent the Glancito merchant dashboard and storefront widget from functioning correctly. Blocking analytics or marketing cookies will not affect the core loyalty functionality.

- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data

Opt out of Google Analytics
You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Opt out of Meta Pixel
You can opt out of Meta's use of cookies for advertising via your Meta account ad settings, or by visiting youronlinechoices.com (EU) or optout.aboutads.info (US).
Policy Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or change the cookies we use. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify merchants via email or dashboard notice. Continued use of the Service after the update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
